THE BEST TIME TO PLANT A TREE WAS TWENTY YEARS AGO, THE NEXT BEST TIME IS TODAY.
In Search Of Green Space-The students were taken to the Safari in Bannerghatta National Park. Here the students observed the wild animals in their natural habitats and realised that the rapid deforestation is putting a threat to these animals as they are losing their home.
After the visit to the safari a question was posed to the students "If there will be no tigers
in the forests,we will have no water to drink. Justify." Then the students were made to think about the importance of all the components of the food chain. This made them realise the importance of each living organism to maintain the balance in the ecosystem.

Visit to the Butterfly Park- Students visited Butterfly park in Bannerghatta National Park and gathered many information about butterflies. They realised that if greenery is lost we will lose these beautiful creatures also. The entomologist present there described that the caterpillars of the butterflies feed on the leaves and they almost make the plant leafless but when they evolve as butterflies they help the plants in pollination thus giving the nature more than they take. This is a beautiful message taught to us by this tiny creatures.
Calculating the age of the tree- In Bannerghatta National Park the students did a very interesting activity of calculating the age of the tree without cutting it. The formula was- the circumference of the stem of the tree divided by six. As the trees generally increase by width of 1 cm per year so the students calculated the radius of the stem of the tree through this formula and thus got the age of the tree. They found some of the mango trees 62 years old and concluded that since 62 years the tree is providing oxygen to us. This formula however is not applicable for fast growing trees.
Evaluation- The students presented a report of all these activities. Priyanka of class V was the first to present the report.
